Adoption and Pet Product Resources

Here are a few resources for adoption agencies WE DO recommend!

• PAWS Animal Shelter (very thorough adoption process)

• The Humane Society (many locations near you…homeless animals need you!)
• Petfinder (photos and locations of shelters where the animal can be seen in person)

Petsmart: Multiple locations to serve you and your pet!

Here’s a few WE DON’T recommend!

• Craigslist (strangers, not sure of how the pet was treated, some people don’t really care who takes the animal or how it is treated – no rules)
• Puppy Mills (puppies bred and sold commercially for profit, usually in substandard conditions). The photos below were captured when Marci and her family saw this van in Wenatchee, WA alongside the road on 5/31/11. A woman was selling puppies from the back of her van. They were $200 each. No records, shots, and she was all about selling them, not making sure they had good homes. This was SO sad. The puppy cages were dirty and she was sitting in the front seat, smoking a cigarette. She was pressuring me to pay her a deposit to hold a puppy because she said they will sell fast. She didn’t care about where I lived, how I would take care of it, or if I had the financial means to give it good care. I called ASPCA to report her.
