About US, Our Pets & Credits

Stephanie and Marci, COM 466

This project was collected, compiled, organized and published on WordPress.com by Stephanie Long and Marci Maciaszyk. We are both students at the University of Washington in Seattle, Wa. The course we took this quarter is COM466 “Digital Communication” where we learned and were challenged by creating this blog, integrating SoundCloud, Slideshare, You Tube, Audio, Photos and text.  We also spent the quarter learning how to use Twitter and how to promote your articles using this tool.

Both Stephanie and Marci are passionate about animals and feel that being a responsible pet owner is important. Many people adopt animals without considering the future and unexpected costs of pet ownership. They also fail to realize the emotional strain a pet can place on a family when there are behavioral problems or illnesses that require expensive procedures.

The current economic situation in America, huge recession, is of key importance to our project because many animals are being surrendered to shelters or abandoned when they are forced by the bank out of their home.

While we agree completely that most people are responsible pet owners,  and truly love their pets like family, there are always naive newbees that need a little “heads up”.

Please enjoy our blog and use the tabs from the front page to navigate through the options and different topics available.

Credits also go to Petco, Rory and Casi (interview) and our loving animals that have inspired our work:

Marci’s pets: Grace (11 yr old domestic long hair gray Cat), Casi (5 yr old female Jack Russell), Costas (11 months domestic black/white kitten) and Cali ( 2 yr old female Tortie cat)

Stephanie’s pets: Left and center Cali (5 years old) had to put in the center picture where she’s trying to sniff my camera and Jack at right (4 years old)
